5 Yearz and I Miss u

It's been exactly 5 yearz now and I miss u sooooooooo much
gone thru lots of ups and lottttttttts of Downs ... but I'm still doin' OK

there r lots of moments I really needed to share with u, I'm sure u'd have been happy to see me rising ... I'm Still goin' against the tide ... u know how pigheaded I am

Still missin' u, I really wished it was him (...) but life is unfair and now we r not gettin' any better

I'm sure u'll never get these words I'm writing down here, But I'm sure u miss me too
Till we happen to meet again ... I'm still missin' u and will always do

Cairo – URBANreVIEWS

A collaborative exhibition between ifa Germany and The Townhouse Gallery of contemporary art

Architecture/ Photography and Video Exhibition

Opening Reception January 28 at 07:00 pm
Date January 28 - 23 February

“Cairo – URBANreVIEWS”
a joint project between ifa galleries and the Townhouse Gallery. The ifa galleries exhibition was previously shown in Stuttgart and Berlin and will open in Cairo with the addition of five Egyptian artists responding to the urban spaces presented.

The exhibition "Cairo – URBANreVIEWS" focuses on various aspects of the city’s current state, presenting succinct surveys of past developments, subjective experiences of present everyday life in the mega-city, as well as visions of the city in the 21st century. Part of it are plans for the New Cairo City, the joint development project by the GTZ and the Cairo City Authorities for the informal settlement of Manshiet Nasser, Al-Azhar Park and the revitalization program for Darb Al-Ahmar by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture and the competition for the new Grand Egyptian Museum, which is to be moved from the city centre to a site by the pyramids.

In this context dealing with their impressions /understanding of the public and individual spaces in Cairo are the photography works of Randa Shaath, Heba Farid, Osama Dawod, Rana El Nemr and video work by Hala El Koussy. The young Egyptian artists and photographers open up new perspectives in terms of method and intent.

While the exhibition is taking place, the Goethe Institute in Cairo and the Aga Khan Trust for Culture will hold discussions on the views expressed by artists, urban designers and architects on the city in which they live and work, which they observe, experience and ‘process’ artistically or architecturally and, finally, on how they envisage the future of Cairo.

This exhibition and accompanying panels are made possible with the support of ifa Germany, the Goethe Institute Cairo, GTZ and Aga Khan Trust for Culture.

Fagr, my niece, a new baby in the family :D

Couldn't believe this !!!!!!!!!!!!! :D we've got a new baby in the family, that's my niece ... she's soooooooooo cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute, I luv her a lot, she's sooooo sweeeeeeet …

Actually it was hard 4 my family waitin' 4 the new comer, specially when the delivery was with a cesarean operation ... so we were worried about my sister, but elhamdollelah she's ok now.

So when we 1st saw the baby ... it was like "OMG , she's so sweeeeeeet". But she kept on cryin' ... & when I asked about the reason 4 that ... they told me that's coz she's seein' the light & ppl 4 the very 1st time .. which's somethin' she hadn't been used to b4.

& It was great havin' the "soboo3" *. It was amazin' when all family is gatherin' 4 that new cuuuuuuuuuuuute baby… it was too much fun.

& btw: the baby has been given the name "Fagr" which's an arabik name - means: Dawn.

& Believe it or not , this's the 1st new baby we have in our big family in 22 yearz, just right after me, coz I'm the youngest of the family ;)

& there's 1 thin' which I don't like ... is that she's always sleepin' & I have no chance to have fun with her ...
& that reminds me of the (Michael Learns To Rock) song "Sleepin' Child" ...

"O my sleepin' child,
the world so wild,
but u've built ur own paradise ...

That's one reason why,
I cover u ... sleepin' child

Anyway, plz make sure u all to wish her a veryyyyyyyyyy happy, healthy & successful life inshallah.

Well, that's it 4 now thanx all 4 ur time, bye now & c u with 1 more update inshaallah :D

* Soboo3:
Is a celebration 4 the arrival of a new baby & it's celebrated on the 7th day of her/his birth. & this's an Egyptian tradition, that I'm sure that most of u r not familiar with, but now u r after that lil hint i gave u :D

:: Fete de la Musique ::

WEll, well, well !!! it's the 21st of june, do u know what that is ????????

It’s “Fete de la Musique” or “Fete of Muzik”, it’s the big day 4 celebratin’ muzik.

& I’ve been celebratin’ that day 4 about 3 years now, every year the event (here in cairo, Egypt) is organized by the (French Cultural Center) & the ministry of culture.

It’s all about playin’ non-stop muzik from 6:30 pm till 1am (the followin’ day)…

Lots of muzik bands playin’ Live, singin’ ... & of course ppl r dancin’, singin' & enjoyin’ the muzik.

This year it was held @ a public park (opposite to the cairo opera house ), there were lots of muzik bands playin’ Egyptian ethnic muzik ... & there was a bit of Rock @ the end of the day.

2 massive hits of the day were …..

* Fathy salama & his band “sharkiat”:
Egyptian muzik writer, dealin’ with “World Muzik” for over 20 years now, reformin’ & blendin’ Egyptian ethnic muzik with other flavors ... Techno, Electronica, Afrikan beats, Jazz & Rock ...

* -M- (Matthieu Chedid):
a French Rocker, great guitarist he’s been doin’ lots of licks & riffs, keepin’ ppl dancin’, singin’ a long (though French’s not widely spoken here in Egypt , me , myself no nothin’ in French :D
But ppl were dancin’ jammin’ for the muzik which was amazin’.

It was a very great experience 4 me, I enjoyed it a lot ……….

That’s it 4 now , thanx all 4 ur time, bye now & c u & make sure u all to enjoy urselves every year celebratin’ “Fete de la Musique” :D

Kamilya Jubran (Muzik concert) - Awel Rabie Festival (Sounds, colors, Ideas & Images from the Mashreq, the Maghreb & the South
About this event: Festival : Sounds, colours, ideas and images from the Mashreq(east), the Maghreb(west) and the South

MMMMM ... About the festival, Unfortunately I didn’t manage to attend all of the festival events.

But elhamdollelah, I’d managed to attend the muzik concert by (Kamilya Jubran ), Kamilya’s a female singer from (Palestine), playin’ Lute (3ood – in Arabic)
& 4 more about her u can check kamilyajubran.com

Unfortunately, I was a bit late to the concert, coz I’d some classes in college, but elhamdollelah, I finally made it to the concert ... :D

& O My God ... It was very crowded, ppl standin’ everywhere I barely managed to c her, but what was very great about this concert – kamilya’s voice – it was amazin’ seein' her performin' Live. She played a bunch of her songs, & btw Kamilya mainly writes the muzik for her songs.

Ppl were stunned by her voice (& of course I was one of them). But unfortunately she sang for 1 hour only - which I’d missed half of it already :'-( - but anyway, I’m glad that i'd been able to c her playin' Live in Cairo & I enjoyed it a looooooot :D

& What was very great about the concert, is that there were ppl from almost all parts of the world, & i guess that's a very good thin' to happen , which means that the festival had managed to gather ppl from almost everywhere.

& Sorry guyz, I didn’t have the chance to attend all of the events of the festival, coz I was bit buzy with lots of other stuff & things to do ... But I promise, next year inshallah I’ll b providin’ u with the full coverage of the festival events & happenings.

& 4 those of u who’d attended any of the festival events, u can send me ur feedback, & I’ll b more than happy to sahre’em on this page …. Or @ least to know that u'd enjoyed ur time in there :-)

Guess that’s it 4 now, so thanx all 4 ur time, bye now & c u

"Francophone Muzik Festival" (Musiques Sans Frontie`res)

Helloooz,
It’s the "Francophone Festival" takin’ place in Cairo, Egypt

An every year event, organized in most of the French-speakin’ countries (includin' Egypt) startin' the 18th of March ... or may b earlier.

This year, the theme is Muzik ... So it’s the "Francophone Muzik Festival" (Musiques Sans Frontie`res), which was runnin’ from 18th - 22nd of March

& I'd managed to attend the 2nd & 3rd dayz of the festival

- 2nd day - Friday March 19th:

* Toma Sidibe` ( Mali/France):

Toma’s playin’ the muzik of Mali, while bein' originally French, so c that… muzik get ppl united, & his Muzik’s fantastic.

btw: Sidibe` is not his real family name, but he took the name of his Djembe teacher (Séga Sidibé) ... u can do a quick search to find out more about his story :)

* N’ Faly Kouyate` (Guinea/ Belgium):
The muzik was amazin’, though I didn’t get any of the words correct :D coz he was singin’ in Guinean, but the muzik was great ... he’s playin’ a nice African instrument called “kora” which sounds amazin’ (Kora: is an ethnik stringed instrument played widely in West Afrika) with hi wife Muriel on Djembe.

N’ Faly was the biggest ethnik Act of the festival, not only for his muzik but also 4 dressin' in the Guinean (i guess) ethnik & traditional costumez :D

- 3rd day - Saturday March 20th:

*Syncop (North Africa “Maghreb”/Canada):
Mixture of ethnic Algerian muzik with a Rap & Rock flava.

* Kajeem (Ivory Coast):
Mix of Afrikan (Ivory Coast) Ethnik muzik with Reggae ... the influences of Bob Marley :) ... the muzik was Catchy, Movin’ & get u dancin’… the repertoire was in French, with very few English songs

It was a great experience, discoverin’ other culturez & their ethnik Muzik ... Wishin’ 4 more next year inshaallah ...

Guess that's it 4 now, bye now & c u :)
